TOMPKINS SURFACE TO BE BETTER THAN EVER

The Tompkins Park playing surface will be the best in years after undergoing a radical maintenance program since the season was completed late September.

As the below picture shows (taken in November), the entire playing surface was ripped up by turf contractors and shaven back to bear earth with only a few roots exposed.

The previous pitch had become quite soft and would rip up easily after wet weather. The new version will be much firmer and level under foot with superb coverage across the entire playing field. The troubled goal mouth area will also be returned to it's past glories.

The result will be one of the league's best playing surfaces that should give the Saints an enviable advantage over the rest of the competition in 2008.
