BROKEN HART FACES SIDELINE SPELL

BankWest Perth Saints Social Premier striker Bren Hartnoll is likely to be out of action against Forrestfield next Sunday after injuring his ankle in the weekends disappointing draw with North Beach.

Hartnoll sustained the injury in a seemingly innocuous off the ball incident which saw him forced to the sidelines early on in the second half.

Hartnoll has had a difficult pre season, seeing his preparation derailed by a number of niggling injuries despite looking very sharp when he has hit the paddock. The extent of the latest injury setback for the bustling striker is unknown, however the club will hopefully have a better idea once Hartnoll has met with the physiotherapist. Hartnoll has been spotted on crutches however, leaving club officials fearing for the worst.

”He went down early on in the second half and at first we thought he’d just rolled it (his ankle), but after the game he was in quite a bit of pain, and he’s only just started to put some weight on it today” said a club source.

“We will have a better idea once he’s been to see the physio, but at this stage we are hoping it just a bad sprain and he’ll be back in action fairly quickly."

Hartnoll, who is departing for European shores in July, will miss the second half of the Saints 2008 campaign and will be looking to bounce back from his injury quickly to get amongst the goals and open his account for the season. The big striker has found the back of the net 28 times since joining the Saints in 2005 but has found the goals hard to come by in recent times.

“I think I’ve been playing some of my best football lately and getting a lot more involved in the play, but I’m not getting the same chances as I did a couple of seasons ago. I guess I’m dropping a lot deeper and holding the ball up a bit, and maybe I just haven’t had the legs to get in the right spots to finish them off!”

“Hopefully the ankle will pull up alright over the next couple of days, and although I think it’s unlikely, I’m still hoping I might be able to play some part in the game this Sunday” said Hartnoll.

“I’ve only got seven or eight games left before I head off – so I just wanna play and help out as much as I can to see the lads get to the top of the table this season!”
